We are very happy to be back to offering a longer day at this year's summer scheme.  We are now able to offer a wet and a dry activity every day, with lots of fun going on.  We will only be taking full week, full day, online bookings and numbers will continue to be limited.

Children will be sorted into groups on the Monday of each week, by age. You will understand that it is harder to manage a wide age range within groups so we aim to have no more than 3 years between the youngest and the oldest.  Having said that, if children are put into different groups and they want to stay together, they just need to speak up.  We want them to be happy!  Older children will be put into the younger group if necessary rather than the other way round.  Each group is assigned to a member of staff who will stay with them and manage the group for the whole week. A second member of staff will manage the daily activity giving a Staff Ratio of about 1:6 for safety.

Gazebos will be available for changing after any wet activities, and there will be wetsuits available for children aged 8 and over.  Younger children can bring their own wetsuits if they want them, but we usually find that little ones who aren’t used to getting in and out of them struggle.  For child protection reasons, we can’t help them with dressing or undressing and they can find the wetsuit changing distressing.  They therefore just wear ordinary clothes, we keep a close eye on them to make sure they aren’t getting too cold, and they get changed quickly into dry clothes when the wet activity is over.  It saves on tears and upset, though it does create extra laundry!  If older children want to bring their own wetsuits they are welcome to do so.  We do, of course, provide buoyancy aids for everyone.  We will send a full kit list out with the confirmation e-mail but you should be aware that we do not provide food - they will need a packed lunch and a drink.  We take no responsibility for loss of or damage to personal possessions, and recommend that you do not send anything that may be easily damaged - watches, phones, etc. do not like getting wet!

There will be a plan for the week's activities available on the Monday morning.  The plan is not set in stone - we will change it if necessary, usually depending on weather and river conditions.

PLEASE NOTE:

Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted but we would ask that you don't send potentially infectious children to the scheme.  Obviously, if our staff get sick we will have problems keeping the summer scheme running.

Mobile Team Adventure has a duty of care for each young person, our staff and the general public.  Please help us by explaining to your child before attendance that there are safety procedures in place to keep them safe and that they are expected to cooperate.  It is very rare that we exclude a child, but it has happened in the past to protect them and others.  We will (reluctantly) do so again if we need to.

When booking online you will be asked several questions and also for details of emergency contact information. You will receive an auto response to confirm your booking, giving details of where to meet etc.

Refund Policy

In the unlikely event that we have to ask you to remove your child there will be no refund.  We are also not offering refunds for children that are affected by Covid and have to withdraw.  This is unfortunate, but we have found, with other events, that some people have been taking advantage of the pandemic and simply telling us they have Covid and getting refunds.  Later, they let it slip that the real reason for cancelling was something different so we have had to stop refunding for this as it costs us money.

If you need to cancel your booking and you let us know 2 weeks before the child is due to come, a 50% refund will be made.  If you give less than 2 weeks notice, then we are under no obligation to give any refund.

If you want to change the date of your booking, we again need at least 2 weeks notice.  We will do our best to facilitate that, but there will be a £10 administration charge.  Numbers are limited and we cannot guarantee that you will be able to get a place in the new week, in which case the refund policy applies. People who have set up an account when booking will be able to go in online and change the dates themselves, up to two weeks in advance.

Early Drop Off

Early drop-off – at Shaw’s Bridge from 8.30am

Main activities do not start until the normal start time of 10am – early children may be given a ball or similar to play with, or may simply be happy to chat.  They might be asked if they want to help to organise equipment for the day – entirely optional, of course.

Children are supervised, according to need – at least one person will be tasked with watching the group.  Staff may simply be assigned to supervision or may be doing other jobs whilst keeping an eye on them (for example, sorting out buoyancy aids as they chat to the children). Younger children or those that have special needs will need closer supervision and individual children will want different interaction on different days. Needs also change as the week goes on and children get to know each other, and become familiar with the routine and the staff.  We adapt accordingly to ensure your child’s safety, but you should be aware that instructors will not always be actively entertaining the children. They are welcome to bring a book or some other activity, but please do not send electronics that may easily be damaged as their bags are moved about.

Please make sure that the children are suitably dressed – they may need an extra layer in the early morning before the day warms up, especially as they will be less active at this stage than later on.  You might also want to pack an extra snack so that they don’t eat their lunch ahead of time.

By booking a place on summer scheme you are agreeing to the terms and conditions stated above.

This information will all be in the confirmation e-mail, so you don't need to take notes!
